First , thank you to Moses for the welcome.

Been playing gospel music for years on guitar, but the arthritis has weakened my thumbs. Always wanted to learn banjo. I tried it many years ago, but there wasn't the resources of today , and I let it slide by. Well, in 2011 I sorta retired, and had more time. So, I took it up again. Then my hearing started to go and I just didn't hear the notes very clearly. In 2012 the audiologist told me that there were treestumps that could hear better than me. Finally got set up with some hearing aids that actually work, and am adjusting to them. Back at the banjo with renewed spirit. I am , as stated, a beginner on the banjo,( after almost three years of bumps and starts) but I love the gospel sound, and I love The Lord.

I have been reluctant to join with any groups, because of my doubts of my playing, and I don't want to bring down the quality of play, so I keep practicing and slowly gaining confidence.

I am actively looking for some other beginners locally to play together.

Just glad there is a group like this to listen to and share with.

	double E says: 4/5/2013 1:27:28 PM Glad to hear of your renewed interest and that you can now hear a lot better. If you have interest in the banjo and enjoy fooling with it, never give up! God has a plan. I sometimes think as I get older I don't play as well. I don't play as much as I used to, but I still love it. But then look at Earl, JD, & other aging players. They still pick pretty good huh? So i guess we need to stay at it! EE

	barbbanjo says: 6/27/2013 1:44:11 AM Welcome, Wolfman, and thanks for sharing your story. It really encouraged me a lot. My husband and I are both in the throes of aging bodies and if it isn't one thing it is another! He used to play mandolin but Arthur got the best of him there so he picked up the dobro where his fingers didn't have to fret. We'll all just keep moving our musical interests around as different physical problems come up. So far my fingers are still able to do the banjo and I'm thankful for every day I get to play. I just read the book by Billy Graham called Nearing Home and it was very good. He said some people are old at 60 and some at 90. Genetics and other things dictate what happens. I'm one of the early agers! Keep on playing that banjo and have all the fun you can pick out of it. I think it is the most wonderful instrument in the world! It keeps me happy and joyful. You can really use the banjo for the Lord and that is the best part of all. God bless you and keep on keeping on in the Lord.

"I'll fly away" "I Saw the Light ""Old Time Religion" and "Church In the Wildwood" I can't say my pickin was stellar, but I sure had a lot of fun and spirits were high for the message. Sometimes we only see the limits of what we can do , and forget the Lord can see us through anything. Thank you for sharing and encouraging.
