- Frequently Asked Questions

Q. - What is The Banjo Special ?
A. - The 15 Annual Banjo Special ( Featuring Brian Taheny, Chris Coole, ArnieNaiman and Chris Quinn ) brings together four of Canada's best and most experienced players and takes the listener on a journey that follows the path the banjo has taken since the early 1800s.  From it's roots as an African gourd instrument, into America and the early minstrel shows, old-time country music, rural blues, bluegrass, and all the way to Ireland. This annual concert does more to scratch the banjo itch than anything else that happens all year in this city, featuring a dazzling line up of special guests.

Q. - I know the banjo is the most popular instrument in the world, but is it true that one can only reach true enlightenment from regular exposure to banjo music?
A. - Duh!!!

Q. -  Will there be famous people at The Banjo Special?
A. -  If by "famous" you mean other people that are flip-floppity in love with the banjo, then YES!

Q. - Can I bring my kids to The Banjo Special? What about my aged parents?...Will they like it?
A. - People of all ages, styles and competence love the banjo special in fact Ronnie Wood ,Madonna, and Michael Douglas, have all picked up at The Banjo Special. If that doesn't make it an all-ages event, I don't know what does.

Q. - Why do you keep sending me emails? Haven't you ever heard of Facebook?
A. - I've tried, I've tried, but I find the interface baffling to my tiny banjo brain. Arnie Naiman, on the other hand, has mastered it.
You can find his event page here. Please share it with all your "friends"

Q. - I'm sorry, I drifted off, what did you say The Banjo Special was?
A. - See Q.1

Q. - Will someone please play "Dueling Banjos" this year?
A. - No, but put this in your pipe and smoke it! - click here
