The D string on my CEB4 cello banjo has broken 3 or 4 times. Gold Tone gave me four, but they didn't fit well, and they're worse than the ones that I bought. I've been trying to find out what kind I can buy so I can play the thing again. I haven't played it for a coupla months --- HELP!

	Pine Cone says: 4/4/2020 5:09:48 PM I switched to flat-wound steel guitar strings on my CEB5 two or three years ago. There was a thread here on Banjo Hangout that suggested the string guages. I will try and track down what I have been using.

I had to, I was wearing through the windings on the nylon strings within a week Unless you're using an open tuning, the gauges I use would need to be different for you. But I can recommend the type of strings. Metal strings do have different tone than nylon strings, though. They last forever and are plenty loud and clear, but the tone is different.
