Hello Everyone

From 3fingers on 1/28/2011 8:29:39 AM

I thought I would start a owners group for those with a Crowe powered Gibby.  You dont HAVE to be a owner to join, you just need to admit the Crowe ring is the best ring Gibson has put in a banjo for quite awhile LOL

Why dont we start by tellin what we play. I'v got a RB-75VL  and love it. The wife knows I have "special"  feelings for it LOL

I have one of the first production Blackjacks 75 0304 4. It camewith an unmarked crowd ring. It was later authenticated by Bill Sullivan. This is a great sounding banjo, old, dury and clear as a bell.

75-0408-88 BLK JK is the serial number of my Black Jack. I am currently using a Scorpion bridge and the head is tuned between G# and an A. I can't ever imagine selling it. It has that tone that I love.

Ok. I'll admit that the Crowe ring is special. That's why I bought one from Bill Sullivan (apparently he kept the blems that Gibson wouldn't take from him), mounted it on a factory floor rim, stuck a custom maple neck from Bill on it. Love it. Kind of a cross between the Rb-75/Blackjack sound and the Granada sound.

Got one Blackjack last week, serial # 75-0406-54. Loved it so much I just got another one on the way, serial # 75-0405-31. I also have a Scruggs Golden Deluxe. Love both the Scruggs and Blackjack. Two unique sounding instruments. Just something special about that Blackjack! Sorry...make that two! :)
