Ron,
The serial number of my Blackjack is 75-0304-4. The year - month is reversed for some reason as it was made in March of ཀ. It also has BLK JK stamped after the number, BLK over JK. It too came without a Gibson sticker in the rim. They must have been in a rush when they put mine together. You are lucky to have J.D.'s signature in your resonator. This gave me an idea. J.D. is supposed to be here in April so I'm going to take my banjo and see if he will sign the resonator. It won't hurt to ask.

I am sure that J.D. will sign your banjo. He signed the gibson sticker on the rim of my BlackJack and I got pics of him doing it.

Our band got to play at the Gibson Opryland Mall location in 2004 and I got to visit with Earl for a few minutes. He was there making an appearance and signing autographs for Gibson. We're now old friends. He is in his 80's and I'm mid 60's. Ha. Anyway, he signed the RB-6 Resonator and I got a picture of him doing that. I keep one photo in the banjo case so I can prove Earl actually touched the banjo. I think that is why it sounds so good... some of that Earl magic. Now if J.D. will sign my Blackjack like he did yours that will be the best and maybe a small amount of his magic will infuse the Blackjack. It really doesn't need much help. It is a very good banjo.
