Here is what the owner told me about this one:
Ser. no. 1768.
My pop purchased this banjo in a pawn shop in Chicago on the way back from his dad's funeral in 1963, I was 9 years old. He paid $43.50-(as I recall) it was all he had in his wallet. My dad was a huge a huge music fan and we would spend every Friday night at Shakey's pizza here in So.Cal listening to the piano and banjo teams, my brother was already taking piano lessons-so I was going to play banjo-and thus I do.
I was 12 and my brother 14 when we were started working 4 nights a week at "Pepa's pizza". I played this banjo for about ten years-Disneyland, pizza parlors, opening night at Angel stadium in 1969 and many many occasions-it was a good banjo.
Use any of this you'd like, sorry-the photos were taken in the garage-I was out practicing my fiddle.
