It all started young in life, as our family drove across the country I must have noticed every motorcycle within sight. I always wanted to ride them, and in fact, checked out a book from our school library teaching how to ride a motorcycle. In my thinking, if I ever get the chance to ride one, I wanted to be prepared.
Fourth grade, our family moved to a new location and met a family with boys our age. The invitation was made and I jumped at the opportunity and that day rode a dirt bike for the first time. I was hooked.
From that point on I rode every chance I had, and fortunately, opportunities came up on a frequent basis. It seemed I rode from that fourth grade on.
My first bike was given to me as is, and the repairs were made by me. It was a 1977 Penton 250 two-stroke motocross bike. It was fast, and I learned to ride on it.
The first bike I bought was a 2002 Yamaha WR250F four-stroke motocross bike that I modified into a motocrosser. Perfect woods bike, but I rode on the trails too.
My current ride is a 2006 KTM 250SX-F motocrosser. It too was a gift as the engine had locked up and was going to be parted out if I didn't want to rebuild it. It took four months but I completely rebuilt the engine and did a frame off restoration. It is the photo in the group homepage.
