Just thought I'd share. I picked up my new banjo on the 8th of January. A pretty good day to pick up a new banjo. It's also Elvis' birthday but I digress.

I've enjoyed the anticipation since I first asked Kevin Enoch to put my name on the list but I'm enjoying the banjo even more. The inspiration for this banjo came from a banjo owned by Jim Bollman that I saw about twenty years ago. It shows up in black and white in the Ring the Banjar book. The heel carving and the dragon are based on that banjo but not really copied. The rest of the design elements I chose like the inlay on the back of the peghead and the fifth fret star were selected because they are easily recognizable as Kevin's work. Considering that I see Kevin about once a month I think I've done a pretty good job of not bugging him too much about it. Other than asking a  few questions about potential Inlays I don't think I ever brought it up but he can chime in if I'm remembering it wrong.

It sounds as good as it looks and plays easily. Nice dark sound but very clear.  Strong highs but not too bright. I couldn't have designed the sound better. I chose the 12" pot because I like big pots, I cannot lie and because that is what Kate Brett plays and I love her sound. It is set up with medium strings with a fairly low action. I usually play lights but I like the sound so much I think I'll string my backup (Tradesman) banjo with mediums.
