From Rbuhrman on 9/12/2012 6:19:20 AM

what's the difference between "crowe" spacing on a bridge and standard spacing?

Don't know the exact spacing, but Crowe spacing is "wider'. And on some banjos, (i have read) it is to wide for the neck. The only problem that I have with Crowe spacing is pull offs on the 1st string. I seem to pull the 1st string off the neck, I pull down. So I have just switched back to regular spacing.

Crowe spacing is 44mm if I recall, over standard 42mm… Not a huge difference but can make quite a difference if you have larger fingers or just need more space.. I think T Baucom used close to 50mm? 48 or 49 something like that… Whatever suits you really.. But yep, pulloffs on the 1st can be a problem on a narrow neck...
