Right now, I'm trying to find a Jens tune that I can play with my band. Most of the guys I play with are fairly traditional bluegrassers, and don't usually play tunes are straight ahead bluegrass tunes. But, I love learning and playing Jens' tunes, and I want to try out one in my band.
Many of the beautiful tunes that Jens writes and records a little bit "outside of the box", with wonderful unexpected twists and turns, and atypical chord progressions. I'm afraid that many of the guys in my band might not feel comfortable many of the tunes. And, due to to the format of the Kruger Brothers (banjo, bass, guitar), usually no other instruments take lead breaks on the tunes that they recorded. So, this will leave some of the guys in band puzzled about how to approach the tunes.
So, I guess I'm asking if there is anyone here who has experience playing any of Jens' tunes in their band and, if so, how it went. Any stories, suggestions, comments, etc are welcome!
