After many many years of wanting to try a Burlile ring, last year I finally broke down and bought one. They just don't come up for sale every day.

I tried the ring on several banjos and finally settled on a Prewar TPF Granada that had been converted to a OPF Granada. Additionally, it has a FON close to the change over from BB to Archtop TPF and has a strip added to the top of the rim to accomodate the conversion to an archtop. There are no holes in the rim for springs or ball bearings, so the banjo was never a BB. The match of the Burlile to the TPF to OPF Granada seems to have worked out well. The Burlile ring is a touch warm where the rim in the Granada is a little cool or dark.
