whereI come from-why I'm here

From ravedog on 11/20/2012 10:55:07 PM

I've had GB sitting on my desktop staring me in the face for a long time and want to see if it's a better starting place to do quick recording. most of my experience has been in live sound, in one form or another, from 12 mic  conferences to 6 mic music. my desire to to clean things up and have them sparkle a little bit better. I also use a zoom H4 and an old roland multi w/ burner. hoping that with a little help I can turn the music side into something useable. as for the conference stuff it's just to keep poeple honest.

Although there are people who say they like it, and can do it, I am not sure GB is the best thing for serious editing. I've done some splicing of GB loops as background music for software tutorial videos I make for work, but I never tried any really tricky, fine-tooth stuff. Logic and Pro Tools seem to be the choice for that.

But you can do a lot with GB. I found it real easy to get started with. I don't know how many simultaneous tracks you can record with it... e.g. your 6 mics. Might depend on factors like your processor speed and memory. I've never recorded more than 2 at once.

If you've got a Mac, you've got GB already... that's the only reason I gave it a whirl.
