Early Flange Plates, Split in two?

From Fathand on 4/24/2017 8:36:02 AM

I started looking for a replacement flange plate to replace mine that I thought was un-original as it was in 2 pieces but found 2 other people with similar ones.

Opening this for discussion here. Anyone else have a flange plate in two semi-circular pieces?

I have a TB4 that has a two piece flange, at the piece side the ends were touching causing a buzzing. A few strokes with a file fixed the problem.

Mine was broke in the exact same place, it was broken so clean I thought it supposed to be that way until I looked at it with a very large magnifying glass. no plating on the break point. I got a replacement from Eric Sullivan only because I needed a lower shoulder ring that my shotgun ring rests on. Frankly Fathand I don't think really effects the functionally at all. I'm willing to bet that the tail piece bracket is the culprit for the break and or some one may have over-tightened the resonator bolts if you early one like mine with no re enforcement brackets. I'm curious too what others will report. Mine is a very early TB3 with the Trap door label. I will have to check my FON when I'm home.

Mine did not look like a brake, but that it was cut with a shear. When I had mine apart I placed the ends as if they were still joined. It looked as if the flange opened at the neck making it impossible to install it. The other thing that I noticed is that the holes for the hooks did not line up with the holes in the tube perfectly. A typical Gibson fix for something that was not quite right I used a round file to make the holes that did not line up, line. Just a few strokes were necessary.

Mine did not look like a break either

Mine is two pieces like that and I’m quit sure it was not a break. 8012-12
