Searching for Ball Bearings

From dgreenberg on 7/26/2017 11:27:27 AM

Hi all,

I've recently acquired a 1926 tb-3 conversion that was turned into a flathead without, it seems, cutting the rim. I'd like to remove the flathead and reinstall the ball bearing tone ring (which I have) but am missing the bearings, springs, and spacers.  Does anyone know where I might find a set of these parts?

Thanks for your help!

Bearings you can get at your local bearing store. Spacers you may find as thick washers but you may have to find used ones or have them made. I have not heard of a replacement spring available.

Reading through past comments, that seems to be the consensus. I'm hoping that someone has a set from an old Gibson that they'd be willing to sell me. All leads would be greatly appreciated.

I've been in the same boat myself. There seems to be no real way to do it, you just have to wait for somebody to sell theirs on the used market. If you do want to try to put a set together I've heard you can use some type of springs they use on motorcycles???

Me to, when I bought my 25 TB3 but I was only missing the bearings , springs , and washers I was lucky enough to find a member that sold me a set for $100.00. PM me he might have another set.

Check Roger Siminoff's blog. I think he lists the specs for those springs. Then google Century Spring Corp. Give them a call & see what they come up with or request a catalog. They were Die Springs.
