A Hangout member, told me when he owned a Blackjack, he had Charlie Cushman set it up and the Head was tuned to G.

I just tried mine at 91 with a drum dial and it seems a little too tight. Maybe it still needs to settle in with the new head but I may need to back it down some.

Update - dropped the head tension down to 90 and it seemed to ring too much. Brought it back to 91, then 91.25 and it really started to pop. Then I took it to 92 and it got even brighter, maybe a little too bright. Maybe once it settles in it will be just right. - The head is a Remo wagonwheel.

Late on this, but tap tuning, 90 is a G# basically....I believe 92 is Bb...the banjo should ring, but not excessively. Tailpiece, string gauge, and neck bow control this. Make sure to keep your rods dead in the pot, and lower the tailpiece. 90 is the sweet spot for jacks, just need to fiddle with other aspects to get the tone right :)
