Gibson only made the 900-series banjos for Montgomery Ward in 1940, the last year they made anything for them. After Ward's Spring/Summer 1940 catalog, there were no more Gibson-made instruments. The 954 is definitely not the best of the RKs, and certainly not a bargain at $2400, but it's still cool to see one pop up.
