I just got a ESS. I've been playing mahogany banjos since I started playing about 1.5 years ago. I've pretty much settled in in PF155 strings (10,11,12.5,20,10).

What are other folks using for their Earl Scruggs banjos. Do maple banjos require heavier strings to drive them?

	CRUZIN says: 5/7/2015 6:11:32 PM I agree with fish carver. PF140 JD Crowe studio set. They also come in a performance set with .10 on the outside instead of 9.5. They are the most popular strings out there. Very playable with a great sound. Try the light studio set and you will be very happy. They also keep their tone better than any other string I've found and the great part is they're inexpensive too.
