Grass Valley, CA- Father's Day Bluegrass Festival
Had some major improvements made to my Goodtime "Special" banjo. Met and chatted with Greg Deering and got some down to earth easy to savvy information regarding my "Special" banjo. It is a result of several years researching how and why the sounds erupt from tone ring to tone ring, most of which are not always consistent. The Special has accomplished his goals in achieving the best and consistent tone ring.
While there, Greg and Janet signed the inside of my pot, added 3 fifth string RR nails, and installed the Smiley bridge, all the time explaining the process and reasoning behind the the bridge improvement. All done at reasonable costs. The bridge was spendy but worth every cent. Went back to my campsite and played for about 2 hrs. Greg did say all future Deerings will include the smiley bridge.
Greg and Janet are really down to earth good folks and I feel so privileged to have met them and our meeting was the highlight of the festival.
