Hi all
I`v played both goat (mostly) and calf skin (some)
and they sound pretty close to me.
The thing I like about goat is the uneven thickness it allows me to put the thicker area where the wear is gonna be and, as has been said all over the BHO no two pickers are the same. Mine wear spots are near the heel on the fifth string and under the first at about center.
Any way as I said every picker is different and its nice to be able to customize that way.
Enjoy Dan
