I've been working on a banjo and stretching the hide head. My "shop" is outside on the south porch. Well, came home to find the hide head split. about an inch in. I may be able to salvage it for a smaller rim..
The humidity has been as low as 3% with dew points around minus 12 degrees.
Not good weather for the hide heads, but they sure do have a sharp, bright sound. That is before they split!
