So, the question. Is it possible to install the head and leave it to dry untrimmed then remove the dried untrimmed head, trim it, spray it with waterproofing then reinstall. Or will the skin just come loose from the flesh hoop.

	carlb says: 4/23/2012 3:00:47 PM I never waterproofed a head. However, when I install a head I leave untrimmed until dry (next day) and if I'm happy with the tension, then I trim it (on the banjo); if I'm not happy with the tension, I remove the head (still untrimmed), wet it and start the mounting process over again. I've never removed a head and then trimmed it and put it back on; wouldn't think that's a good idea.
	jbalch says: 4/24/2012 5:12:58 PM Bob. I prefer to trim the hide above the tension hoop while wet. Then after it is completely dry, I remove it from the banjo...trim it close to the crown, and spray with waterproofer. I linked a few photos of the process.
