Starting to develop some dirt on my Hide and wondering on the best way to clean it without stretching or staining the hide.

Really do not want to let it develop to head cheese.

Any thoughts or ideas?

Oh and this is on a pretty thick old Ludwig skin.

	jbalch says: 7/23/2013 5:17:12 AM Try a clean, white, pencil eraser. The soft, non-abrasive type might be best. Back when hide heads were the only available option, head cleaners (erasers) were sold for this purpose. You can also use sandpaper for agressive cleaning. But it will thin the head and should not be done too much.

	Gordy Ohliger says: 7/29/2013 10:59:07 PM Yes, John is right. Simply erase it....this was told to me by a man in his eighties who was a "Player" in the 1920's....way cool guy...he passed it on to me cuz, I always have used skin heads, and he liked that alot. Listen to yer elders...
	stringbeaner says: 9/2/2013 12:59:38 PM Somewhere in one of my "stuff boxes" I have an old banjo head cleaner (says that on it) which is just a large art gum eraser. 'Bout twice as large as one from an artist's supply store.
