Out of tune banjo with playing

From existential_banjo on 8/28/2013 3:38:42 PM

Hello all hide heads.  I am new to this forum.  I have mounted a hide head before, but it was for someone else's banjo.  I finally tried a medium goatskin for my StewMac kit banjo.  It seems to have settled in, but I have noticed something.  It seems, after I tune up, the strings start to go sharp.  I would almost expect flattening of the tuning, but not sharp.  Any thoughts or explanations?

Do they go sharp when fretted, or as you play them. My first suspect would be bridge placement.

No, it is the open string tuning that goes sharp. I use an electronic tuner, and it shows sharpening of the open string.
