I recently got an old Supertone open back original 5 string from my great aunt to hopefully refurbish. It was a horrible mess. Well, I managed to get a lot of work done on it and despite its broken neck and missing parts I think it will be playable. When it came to put a head on it. I had an old calfskin I was going to use. Come to find out its a 10 11/16" rim not 11". I was going to buy a fiberskyn for it but then occurred to me I had a bill miller I did not like and decided to take a swag at remounting it. Came out pretty well! My aunts intent is to hang it on the wall but I wanted it back to playable and a skin head. I left it loose so hopefully it won't split. I just linked a photo to the group.
