I made a banjo, out of a 2x2x36" oak turning post, a cedar cigar box, and a mandolin tuning gearhead.

I really enjoyed the crafting and am now loving the playing.

Has anyone else used anthing similar to make an instrument. I want to get/give advise for future builds.

	Jonnycake White says: 3/1/2011 8:05:39 PM I've done a couple of box instruments - not cigar boxes, one had nuts in it and the other smoked salmon - but the same basic idea. Also I've done a cookie tin banjo. They are all the same idea - use a big stick through the body to take the string tension.
