I was given this banjo back in the 70's that I was told was found in a velvet bag standing in an abandoned cabin in the Pennsylvania woods. The bag disintegrated when it was touched, so it was there a long time if that is true. I replaced the head because the original was torn and I'd like to make it playable again

It is a 5-string with 10" diameter fully spun over pot with 30 tension brackets. The fingerboard appears to be ebony and the neck is solid mahogany. It uses a single wood tension wedge on the neck. I have some photos that I will load to the site once I figure out how.

	banjukebox says: 12/25/2016 8:57:51 AM Yes, it is almost surely a Buckbee. I am currently refinishing a similar banjo. This one has identical inlays that I had to remove and reset after replacing the fretboard veneer. If I get down to the shop today, I'll post some pictures. Mine has identifying marks on the dowel stick. Not Buckbee but another Vender in NYC. It is a six string, But I think the 6th string was added later. Can you post a picture of the headstock?

	jcarey says: 8/14/2019 12:32:06 PM Wondering if anyone knows of a set of friction tuner pegs that fit the old Buckbee head stock? I tried a set of Grover 25B pegs but the internal square post isn't long enough to install on my banjo.
