Still Waiting - New RS 11" model almost finished.

Johannes became swamped when his boys decided to go out and be professional musicians and not help their daddy to make banjos! So this delayed delivery of my new 11" RS model banjo, promised last May. That is ok, I know his integrity is very high and I have all the confidence in his old world craftsman standard of excellence.

In the meantime, I am enjoying my short scale # 008 Bonefaas with a Renaissance plastic head. It is fantastic. Also fantastic is the fact that Richie Stearns has found it in his heart to teach me. What a great joy. Starting to get it now.

I was able to convince him to start lessons by Skype. Before I was driving up to his place near Ithaca, NY, about 3 hrs and 20 min one way to have a lesson. I would video the lesson and take it home and play it back to learn. I also made tabs of his exercises and scales, but eventually stopped this tedious process and just concentrated on the videos.

I would like to say that Richie is open to teaching Via Skype at this point. This is a great opportunity for any clawhammer player to learn a great style from a great player. He accepts payment by PayPal. Contact me if you would like to do this.
