.......when right handers think its no big deal for a lefty to "just learn it righty",as if our natural inclinations can go either way?i know there are some that have forced themselves to do it,and i have always wondered if they would have turned out an even better player if they had played left handed.now for you guys that play a right handed banjo left handed, you need to start your OWN group! LOL.just kidding

I tried that for a while back in the early 70s and got so frustrated it took me until 2001 before I bought my first lefty banjo. Those that are successful at playing a right handed banjo turned over have my admiration....

Nothing to do with banjos exactly, but:

When I was in college in the 1970's I took a course titled "Prejudice and Descimination". We we charged with writing a paper dealing with prejudice and descrimination in daily life. Being left-handed and wanting to choose a topic I figured no one else would, my paper was about the world's discrimination against left-handed people and how the world was right-handed oriented. Part of the paper listed some everyday items that were a nuisance or worse, like manual can openers, telephones (before the cell phone age), scissors, etc. We leftys know them all. When I got the graded paper back, I got a C+ with a note saying I should have picked a "serious" topic. Duh. The professor had just unknowingly proved my point. That was the best C+ I ever got.

No, and I had to use a right-handed pencil. Yes, even pencils (and pens) are right-handed. Hold a pencil that has writing on the side of in in your right hand as if you were going to write with it. Now read what is written on the pencil. Now do the same with the pencil in you left hand. Shazam!
