I just recently discovered this jam and attended it yesterday. It's held on the 1st Saturdays of the month at Garrett's Store (corner of McCowan & Caroline) in Montgomery, Texas. Time: 10:00 AM until everyone gets tired.

Musicians assemble on the porch and play from there. The porch crew are all familiar with their instruments and are generous about swapping the lead. "Lurkers" are welcome and encouraged to sit on the lawn and follow along as they learn the music and their instruments.

The music we played yesterday ranged in genre between Old Time, Old Country, Folk and Bluegrass (there was even a Child Ballad played).

I didn't know this before I got there, but each participant is encouraged to present one or more songs for the group to play. Playsheet handouts were non-existent and most songs were announced simply by hollering out the key.
