I'm BACK !

From Delaware on 4/16/2013 11:54:11 AM

Hey Misfits - hope you are all doing well.

I was interrupted in my quest to learn banjo due to an injury to my left hand.  I was about 6 months in, and I had to completely quit playing.  It took almost 4 months to get back to the point where I could play, and I was convinced I would have forgotten what little i had learned.

Once I was healed, I loaded up Beginning Banjo 1, and was pleasantly surprised to find out that most of what I had already covered came back quickly.  Having the DVDs and being able to go back through the note-by-note lessons was so helpful!  I was THRILLED to be able to play again, and I am back on the path to figuring it out, thanks to The Murphy Method.

I feel like I have the most patient & understanding banjo teacher on the planet, so I thought I'd share my happiness (and what better place than here, with the Misfits).

If you ever get to meet her in person, you will know you have the most patient and understanding banjo teacher, and she's a real hoot to hang out with too.

Donald - did you attend a camp? I am only about a 3-hour drive from Winchester. Attending a camp is on my To-Do list, for sure!

Thanks mebacon, it's really good to be back. I was surprised how much I missed playing. I avoided the hangout too, because it made me want to play even more.

Yes I went to her workshop in Portland Oregon this year, and plan to do the same next year if she comes again. If I was that close, I'd be there in a heart beat.

There is just something about the banjo that keeps us coming back, isn't there?! Between work, travel and a hand injury, I too went back to the Beginners banjo DVD. By the end of an evening, I found myself playing all kinds of tunes I have learned. A banjo really is like an old friend! Welcome back, Mary!

Hey Mary
from one banjogirl to another welcome back. I know it is hard to get back into the swing of things after a injury. I had severe leg injury that kept me from standing for long periods of time to play my bass. I really have been getting back into my banjo lately too, and found Murphy to always be a tried and true friend.
