John Hardy

From Moonpie50 on 4/25/2013 3:51:29 AM

Starting on John Hardy, but taking the time when I practice to run through others on MM. I have been using my metronome alot with FMB especially. Really as just a practice tool to be in the habit to do so and help with timing.

The MM is a proven tool and I have found it to help me learn to play more easily. No I will never go to Nashville ha ha! and really don't desire to play in any type of group either. I got caught up in that when I  played the bass. It really was too much drama for me to deal with alot of personalities of people who have told themselves that they were great.

My goal is to sit on my back porch playin the ole' 5 and enjoying it. Or just going and sitting around playing with friends. Life is way to short to be burning up alot of energy on something you aren't enjoying.

Vanessa, I like your goal! In fact, I like it so much that I am going to go play my banjo on the porch instead of weeding the flower garden!

Sitting on the porch playing John hardy sounds just right! It's a great song, but for some reason I find it pretty difficult. But I am still a rookie, for sure.

Yes I am finding it to be more of a challenge then the others. But if you get it down then you are one more step a head of being a better player. Bill I can't wait for it to warm up so that I can sit on my porch it has been really cold here in Ohio.

I had more trouble with the timing of John Hardy than anything else on Vol. 1. It is so fun to play when you get it down. Wish I had a porch!

I have been playing Jon Hardy for a little while and played it at a jam the other night and one of my fellow pickers told me that it was good except I was playing it too slow. I told him that he was probably right and that if he would notice most everything that I play is about "half fast" both literally and figuratively.
