Slow down programs and your teaching DVD's

From lindafhorton53 on 8/17/2014 6:20:54 AM

Hey Red or Casey,

I'm wanting to purchase a slow down program because even tho I have all 3 of Murphy's jam session DVD's, there are just some songs (FMB and Jed Clampett for instance) that I can do the slow versions just fine and even get a little faster, but just can't seem to get up to the fastest speeds that are on your teaching DVD's and keep the syncopation correctly. Do you know whether I can save the songs from your DVD on my computer? Apparently I have to save the song first and then the program can slow it down.  I want to make sure I can do that so that I can use the slow down program to slow down your faster versions and be able to gradually work up to your fast speeds. It's the syncopation that gives me headaches on these two, just can't seem to do it at higher speeds!

I'm looking at the program Pitch Switch right now, so that I can not only change speeds but also change the Key it's played in so I can practice with that also.

Any ideas or advice?

Anybody out there already have Pitch Switch and can give me some feedback?

You can certainly rip the video off of the DVD onto your hard drive. I used to use Mac The Ripper, but now use a program called MDRP, which does the same things. And there are similar programs for PCs. I've never talked to anyone who has used Pitch Switch, but I usually recommend Ultimate DVD Player from Roni Music for video slowing/speeding up.

Thanks Casey, I'll look into Ultimate DVD Player. I've never heard of that one. Will also look into MDRP--I don't know how to "rip" so will need to see if I can figure it out. I just wish to heck I could get these fingers going FASTER so I wouldn't have to do any of these!!
