Old Joe Clark problem

From Delaware on 5/24/2016 1:27:42 PM

The 'A' part of Old Joe Clark is continuing to give me problems.  For some reason, the timing between my left and right hands becomes a *fraction* of a second off, resulting in some of the notes sounding muted.  This is the only song I have this problem with, and it has been going on practically since I learned the song!  All is well at slow speed - - - the misfiring occurs when I speed things up.

Any suggestions to possibly overcome this?  It's driving me crazy!   Thanks,

-Mary

The only thing that has ever helped me with timing issues such as your is practice with a metronome. I'll identify the max speed I can play a piece perfectly, then increase the metronome one click at a time. It takes a lot of work and patience, but the results provide long-term benefits.

If you go back to page 20 of this group, you'll see that I posted a thread about Old Joe. I struggled with the timing on this song, and I found out a lot of other people did as well. So don't feel alone. You'll get it, if I can, anybody can LOL

I was just about to say that Old Joe Clark is one of the most challenging tunes to learn since there is so much going on in such a short space of time. But I see Casey beat me to it.

You really need to work through this one slowly. There are some tiny detail changes in both the A and B Parts that you need to get right or your trip yourself up. Listen carefully to what Murphy is telling you. Pause the video and work through each tiny section before moving onto the next. Patients, Perseverance and lot's of Practice will get you there. The key is LISTENING

Hello I am starting to learn Purple Creek from Casey's custom lessons. I would like to know the cord progression for that break.
