ODE 30 series longneck dating..

From jun3machina on 4/25/2017 9:52:44 AM

hi there, im finally getting around to uploading some pictures of the 30 series longneck I purchased on ebay in Jan. The serial number is 760, and is a sandcast rim. I believe this is an early one. I am trying to determine exactly what year of manufacture. I purchased this from Jerry McGeorge of
Red Mountain Premium Guitars. He purchased it from a 'warren phillips who worked for northrup'. from what i understand, mr. phillips purchased it directly from ODE. not sure if it was mail or from the shop, but jerry mentioned he might have lived in california.

If anyone has any scans or lists of serial numbers of first generation ODE's before the sale to Baldwin, and they wouldnt mind sharing via email, i would love to have those.

i also wondered about the brass toned hardware on the dowel stick. ive never seen it before on other banjos...

this banjo far exceeds any expectation ive ever had, from visuals, to handcrafted woods to sound. It's rather intimidating. But also one of the most beautiful and best sounding instruments i have ever played.

thank you for letting me share

Well, finally the suspense is over and we find out that you bought the Ode! It looks awfully purdy! There are a couple of Ode experts here in the group who can link you to the collections of serial numbers. I believe Ed Britt has the most comprehensive. Maybe you can PM him here on BHO? Anyway, thanks for giving us a peek at your long neck! I knew you would like the sound!

Linked by 35planar 7 years ago: Looking for an ODE 5-string neck, pre-Baldwin, dowel stick or no dowel stick, long or standard, tuners or none as long as the truss rod, frets, and wood are decent with no twist. I know, seems futile.
