truss rod cover and wrench question

From jun3machina on 6/23/2016 8:45:01 AM

would anyone have a picture of theirs and/or a recomendation to replace one that has been lost?

i am also looking for a recomendation on what you use to tighten the nuts on the ends of the hooks. they're more rounded than I am used to and my deep socket wrenches dont fit so far.

There is no truss rod cover.
The bracket hook nuts size is 5/16"

Thanks! Really no cover? Interesting. Makes sense though. Appreciate the reply

According to what year mid 1960's to about 1970 the truss rod is adjusted from under the fingerboard, you need to remove the neck from the pot, after that it's takes a special wrench to adjust the Burns type rod from a hole in the bottom of the heel.
Does your banjo have a hole in the bottom of the heel ?
A deep well 5/16 socket should fit or a banjo nut "T" wrench in 5/16"

The only place to adjust it is at the top. I removed the neck and dowel, and nothing on the bottom end of it

Linked by 35planar 7 years ago: Looking for an ODE 5-string neck, pre-Baldwin, dowel stick or no dowel stick, long or standard, tuners or none as long as the truss rod, frets, and wood are decent with no twist. I know, seems futile.
