Sounds like Jill's had a good week, how about the rest of y'all?
How are the fiddle-tunes by ear going, Cyndy? I'm practicing the same thing, may be getting a little better at it sitting in front of the Old Time Jam Machine (replaying and replaying the thing) but it's still a big challenge in a jam setting.
You still getting up at 5am to practice, G?
Not sure if bornold's new to the group or just made an avatar change, but welcome either way! Got any specific practice goals?
My week was pretty solid in spite of not reaching my hour-long daily practice goal once. Breaking that hour into segments (30 min fiddle, 30 min old-time jam, 30 min solo practice) has meant I can take a stab at smaller goals if needed, though. Fiddle was great this week. I think once you start playing Cluck Old Hen you're lost to fiddle--that tune's just too enjoyable. Would like to work on a little vibrato and my double-stops--G, you might have some good advice for me there.
Got to the Dallas old-time jam and had a great time. They played in an old church house this weekend. Fiddlers were on fire, and a double bass player was anchoring the whole thing down. Great sound in that place. It's been a few months since I last went, and a bigger repertoire helped. Still struggling to keep up with tunes that are new to me, but sat many tunes out and just listened and watched.
Posted a new video in celebration of Godzilla being back on the big screen. Love that guy. Paid tribute with a cover of the Blue Oyster Cult song.
All in all a great week--how's everybody holding up?
