New Owner - Question on bridges!

Haggled a local yokel up here in St. Albert, Canada to a reasonable price of $1400 from an unreasonable asking price of $2500 on a 1975 Double X OME!

This is my first "professional grade" banjo, and I suppose instrument...huh it's about dang time. Really enjoying it.

I've also got a question about bridges: What kind of bridges do you guys use on OME resonator banjos like the Double X? What do you find maximizes the tone you're looking for (and what is that tone?). I'm asking in the context of Scruggs style playing rather than clawhammer.

	LeonEvans says: 8/28/2012 11:54:18 AM I'm running a Snuffy Smith 9/16 Crowe spacing on my OME Columbine III. I also like the Kelly Emerson Sweet Power II. They are nice if you like good crisp pop. Plenty of choices out there and it's amazing how changing a bridge can change the sound of your banjo. Leon
	PeterJ says: 8/28/2012 1:46:20 PM I go back and forth -- depends on my mood -- but I like a 5/8" Snuffy Smith II as well as a 5/8" Bart Veerman Mystery wood bridge. Both of these give me a lot of pop and "roundness" (the Snuffy is a little deeper, the Bart is a bit crisper), which work well for 3-finger styles. OME has been using Snuffy bridges for several years -- not sure what they plan to do now. BTW, good job bringing down that price. You're going to love being an OME player.

	Unclelevi says: 9/29/2012 6:27:15 AM Like Leon I'm using a Snuffy Smith, but mine is a 3/4. It puts the action a little high for most people, but I like it. I tried the Emerson Leon mentioned and liked it, but came back to my Snuffy. It's kinda fun experimenting with different bridges. They make a world of difference in the sound.
