Hi Martha -- I worked with Chuck Ogsbury to develop that banjo. Glad you like it. Enjoy!

What tone ring is in the Southern Cross?

According to the description of the instrument, the tone ring is an HG-50. I hope that tells you something.

Yes, it has the OME HG50 in it. The Southern Cross was specifically developed (along with the HG50 tonering) to provide an OME Bluegrass banjo, for 'hard-core' Scruggs- style players. In MY opinion, we hit the target, dead-on. Mike Kropp wrote a review of it, for The Banjo Newsletter. (The review is also on the OME website.)

To read Mike Kropp's BNL review of the Southern Cross -- go to the OME website.
Click on the "What's New" Link. Then click on the "Media Coverage" link. Scroll down, until you get to the Southern Cross review.

(You'll probably have to 'cut-and-paste' that link into your browser.)
