I keep seeing 2,500 stated for the number of "1001 Banjos" books produced and I've been told 250 for the Brown book. I could never find a primary source on those numbers though. I've heard those numbers from John Bernunzio too (I bought my Brown Book from John).

I was able to ask Mr. Tsumura last week, and he confirmed those numbers too.
