What to do when we're quarantined?

From Paul R on 3/26/2020 11:28:00 PM

Well, we're all pretty much in the same boat - or in separate boats these days.

I had three open mic venues, two in Prince Edward County (the Drake Devonshire and the Waring House) and one on Kingston (the Elm Cafe). Now, of course, there's nothing.

However, Elm Cafe session organizer Gary Rasberry (with help from folks from the Skeleton Park Arts Festival) set up an on-line open mic this past evening, via Zoom. A small bunch of us took part (I played "Seneca Square Dance"). While far from perfect, with various technical glitches, it was, nevertheless, an opportunity for us to make music for each other, and, in a couple of cases, to try to make music together.

It's good to have people make the attempt to come together in this time of isolation.

Hi Paul,

You are certainly a resourceful bunch over there.

We are retired and live in a pretty isolated woodland area in Scotland so things don't seem too different for us yet..! Only the nearest road has gone a lot quieter which has been nice.

I'm still playing every day the same indoors too, things may seem odd as a few weeks pass though and we haven't ventured out so much.

Keep safe and keep strumming... :-)

All the best.... David

We're in a small subdivision outside of Kingston, so things tend to be quiet. The schools are closed, only essential services are open. But I have a guitar being repaired that I will pick up soon. Otherwise, the only thing being done is yard work - and music practice.

Keep safe, too, and all the best to you.

Paul
