It's been a good little while

From panthersquall on 4/10/2013 8:37:15 PM

since Trusty Guitar Player Dave and I last played out at an open mic, almost a year, I think, but tonight we went up to the Whistle Stop grill and bar in good ol' Safety Harbor and played 4 songs.

And it was just wonderful :-)

Nerves were at a minimum - present but not disturbingly so - and even though we were a little rusty, we played good (for us).

We caught the last end of the dinner crowd, about 7:45 p.m., and it was mostly older folks and families with kids, so our OT music went over really well.

There was even a grandfather who brought his grandson, who was I'm guessing around 4 or 5, up to the table right in front of us, and they both seemed to really be enjoying themselves and the music. It was sweet :-) He stayed to tell us thank you as we were coming off the stage.

Got some good applause at the end of the tunes, and at the fast part of Cripple Creek, the people all began to clap along. Now that is a great feeling to hear that happen :-)

Last weekend Dave and I went to the Florida Old Time Music Championships and spent the weekend listening, having some tunes and sharing some laughter with some new friends. It was great. So when we went up on stage tonight, I just felt like it was merely a continuation of jamming from that weekend.

It was soooo good to be playing music again.

Well done Laurie, great to hear you've got out again, hopefully this will be the start of you getting out and about like before.. ;-)

Fantastic! And you got applause in a restaurant! We were in an establishment in Galt (Cambridge), Ontario on Friday, and there was a lone guy playing blues, who was hardly noticed.

Here's hoping more of that happens. Let us know - it's so encouraging.

I think part of it is finding the right audience to play for. Our music was good to eat by, lol.
