The Friday jam is picking up momentum after the Christmas layoff.
This past Friday, I decided to play "Nashville Cats" on the banjo. To fit the vocal, I tuned the banjo down from double C to double Bb. The hitches: 1) it takes a lot of tuning when the strings are so slack; 2)you have to play slowly to fit in all the words; 3) I was the only one who knew the song! Well, it could have been worse, and the audience didn't seem to mind.
Ever get more involved than you'd planned? Now I open up the hall, set up the sound system (thankfully, not alone), and help pack it up at the end of the night. That's okay. After performing and playing in the backup band all night, I'm wired and don't get to sleep until way late at night. Anyone else have that problem?
