Tonight at the open mic jam I chose my songs at the last minute, from a handful of possibilities. So, I picked two that I was going to play on the banjo (I play guitar and banjo at sessions). I did "Bury Me Beneath the Willow" and "Old Blue". I cranked up the tempo, too. Why? Because my turn came just before the break, and, if you don't keep the audience's attention, they'll flock to the food table. At least I kept the food rush down somewhat. That meant that I could dash to the food, too, as soon as I'd finished!
