If any of y'all are going on Summer mission trips to Mexico, please give serious thought to taking your banjo with you.
The Mexicans (especially the musicians) are extremely curious about it - especially Mariachi - and they love to hear it played with songs/hymns familiar to them, e.g. "This Is The Day" ("Este Es Del Dia"), etc. An almost universal song with Christian overtones sung in Mexico is "De Colores"; you might want to learn that one if you take your banjo with you.
In the past, I've found that the banjo will draw heathen like a magnet and give the local talent the opportunity to present the plan of salvation.
