I remembered this foggy October morning that the tune "Petersburg" from my Carry On John cd was inspired at this season many years ago. In the final form, it is really a combination of two different tunes. For the cd, I adopted the name of the second tune. But the original melody was written at Halloween and first called "Jack O lantern."

I think it is "non-traditional" ... if not "progressive." I hope it fits here. I linked the mp3 to this group.

I can hear the Halloween influence, but the Russian flavor is also very apparent in "Petersburg". I posted a traditional Cossack Lullaby for comparison, which also has a pretty spooky feel to it, especially for a lullaby... I also posted a two part "October" tune I wrote 20 years ago. The first part reminded me of a fall morning, the second is Halloween inspired. For those who haven't purchased John's CDs, you are missing out on some of the best original clawhammer compositions available. Mike
