So I had my first "jam" the other day. Almost everybody anroud me plays guitar. It's all jammy blues funky kinda stuff, which i like so I always felt a little outcasted on banjo. I've played bass guitar for a long time and always had no trouble jamming that way. This jam I played on the jo. I play clawhammer so some keys I can still have trouble with, but after a little communication we were sailing quite smoothly. I've been finding rhythms by dropthuming alot that can easily relate to simple jammy funk guitar. So anyway lets take a Jack Johnson (you know the surfer guy) kinda rhythm and plunk out a tatsty lick with a slight pause to get that chuck or thumb smack on the head and whamo! funk banjo. It'll make you want to sing! As soon as i can upload a vid maybe I could give a better explaination. It'll definitely spice up your inventory.

	Bluesage says: 7/14/2012 9:39:10 AM I can already relate to the "sound" you're describing. A skip followed by a drop thumb creates a very cool syncopation that works VERY well on funky blues tunes...
