Prucha Tuners - gear ratio

Anyone else having difficulty adjusting string tension with the Prucha tuners? They seemed to be way to sensitive. Gear ratio too high? I think their purpose was to be like the original Prewar Mastertone.

After several months, I finally switched mine out with a set of five star planets. Fortunately I was able to put the nice Prucha buttons on the five star planets, although it was somewhat of a kluge. Tuning much easier, still though, esthetically the original Pruchas look much better. thinking about going back to the Prucha tuners.

	Beardog says: 5/12/2014 7:56:57 AM My Prucha is my best sounding and playing banjo. I have an arch top Prucha on order. With that said, the tuners are a bit difficult. I keep meaning to ask Jarda about them, but just never can remember Almost like they need some type of heavy grease treatment.
	stanger says: 5/20/2014 2:21:46 PM I found the leather washers on the offset tuners to be very grippy when new. I had to adjust them every once in a while until the leader compressed and polished. When new the leather is left rough. I just bought a Prucha last year that has his own planets on them. They were slipping until I cranked them down quite tightly, and all of a sudden they worked very well and smoothly. The planets are less sensitive than the offsets, even though my offsets are now well broken in.
