Just got a 25 from Elderly's yesterday. I went there fully expecting to leave with nothing. I have had Mastertone's and upper end Deerings in the past. So, being post divorce my budget was slim, hence the idea of finding nothing. I was concerned with only 2 things, Feel and Sound. When I picked up the RK-RB25 I was pleasantly suprised, there was a little weight there, not as heavy as the Morgan Monroe Everest, but enough to get my attention. After a few rolls I was impressed to say the least. Long story short, after picking on the 25 I went thru the Gibsons and Deerings there and each time returning to the Recording King. The 25 had the feel and sound I was looking for, and it was soild and in tune all the way up the neck. I walked out of Elderly's with a smile and a RK-RB25.....

	Crusty says: 3/1/2013 8:39:51 PM The 25's are good solid banjos and the wooden tone ring that is integral to the rim makes them sound much better than you ever would expect. For clawhammer they're too bright but that can be cured with a no-knot tailpiece, a Renaissance head and a heavy Moon bridge, but still keep that booming volume when you lay into it. I practice with a rubber band mute so I don't drive myself nuts with the loud noises I make.
