What Is Your Favorite Recording King?

From Randy Escobedo on 1/29/2011 5:42:16 PM

What Recording King banjo is your favorite? I have a great Elite 75. I do like the Elite in gold hardware too! I have a friend who has a great sounding RK guitar and a Deco King banjo.

Any of you going to SPBGMA next week? I will be there for the whole weekend.

I haven't got to play an Elite yet but I do love my 60

Having my 75 for just over 2 weeks now, I must say that it exceeds my expectations.
I was looking for an affordable back-up (=replacible) banjo and it had to be mahogany.
I'm glad I decided for this one.
It doesn't blow my RB-1 out of the water, but I can see it coming on the same level eventually.

I have an RK-R80 that is a powerhorse! I do like the looks of the -75 though.

The Elite is a super looking banjo. Not sure if the longer scale would be a plus or minus for me.

Haven't had a chance to pick for myself a 75, but all the posts and you tube clips indicqte it's an amazing banjo, regardless of it's affordable price. I have a Scout I bought from David Wadsworth, who got it from Cliff Fitch who set it up and put in a Fitch Nitro rim. I changed the tailpiece to a Fults '34 and pre-EPA head, added a Desert Rose Z bridge, and have a banjo for life-won't be trading this one, and that's saying something.

I had an RK-35 that was a great first banjo, and also have an ROS-06 acoustic that is the bottom of the line, cheap acoustic, and have to say it sounds amazing, especially for what ai paid for it. I got it new right after they came out before the price increase. Just yesterday I picked up an RK-87 off the classifieds here and will hopefully have it early next week!
