I go to Wal-Mart and buy the longest men's belt they have of whatever design catches my eye. Remove the buckle and tongue keeper loop. I then affix it to the bracket hooks with leather straps or chicago screws

The "cradle strap" works good but it's kind of tedious getting it on and off so it's better to just leave it on.

or the"Super Strap" has quick release connectors...

When one has 7-8 banjos it gets expensive buying those high-dollar boutique straps. I have the advantage of being a former harness-maker/leather tooler, so I like making my own straps.

On my White Mountain open back, I had two old style hook brackets (the kind which have a round ball with a hole through them) installed onto the rim for strap attachment points. Then it was a simple matter to cut a piece of 1" latigo leather strap and punch holes in the ends to fit the attachment points. There's a picture on my home page.

I snagged a Levy's cradle strap online for 20 bucks. Its awesome. Apparently nobody likes the color burgundy.
